Boeing KC-46A Pegasus Tanker has completed its first flight making it one step closer to being delivered to the US Air Force. The tanker has been a long-awaited request from the Air force due to the many traits it can and will perform. The Tanker has been inspired by Boeings prolific 767 airframe that has been a great asset to the Equipped with in Aircraft Fuel Systems to be able to fuel any coalition or allied aircrafts.
The plane will be able to transport patients or be able to carry a significant number of passengers. The aircraft is to be built in Boeings Everett Facility which is in Everett, Washington. Boeing has been able to place 34 of the awaited aircrafts on contracts prior to their competition.
The tanker will continue to be inspected along with other tests before it will be handed over to the US Air force. In the test performed the aircraft was taken to an altitude of 39,000ft. While the aircraft was stationary in the air the staff checked the controls, engine and other tests that might have had an effect on the environment due to omissions.
The aircraft and staff have been following strict FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) to be able to be granted airworthiness as soon as possible. Once finishing the initial flight there will be other extensive tests taken in accordance to the FAA procedure.
The Tanker is the seventh aircraft of its kind to be able to make approved for flying. The previous models that have been approved for air worthiness have been AV-8B, C-17, A-10, F-16, F/A-18, KC-10 and KC-46 aircraft. Amongst a combination of the previous 6 aircrafts they gained over 1600 flight contacts for in air fueling and have accumulated over 2200 flight hours.

Pratt and Whitney have been going through a rough patch as they there has been a significant complication with their newly innovative gear turbofan engine family. The GTF was destined to be the top competitor for General Electrics as it was not only very fuel efficient but also very ecofriendly.
The GTF was the perfect choice for passenger aircrafts and were wanted by many because of its many traits. With the recent complications, it has endured it has spiked Pratt and Whitney’s sales significantly. It has been observed that General Electric’s sales have been sky rocketing with 10 times more orders to Airbus’ “narrow-body” then Pratt and Whitney.
Pratt and Whitney has been a prime distributor to Airbus as it has installed their GTF into their Airbus A320neo family series aircrafts. The newly innovative GTF engine has experienced manufacturing and technical problems along with extended delivery dates.
A significant event that occurred to IndiGo , an Indian Airline, due to the malfunction of the engine was having to ground a large amount of their aircraft as they all contained the GTF engines.
Airbus has also experienced a major setback with the hault of the GTF engines as its orders for A320neos have come to a complete stop. Despite the significant malfunctions that have been addressed stopping the P&W engine to be placed on more planes the P&W officials that the GTF will continue to be the future of engines and aircrafts. As stated by Chris Calio ,
“We are confident in the long-term value of our GTF program,”
he said.
“We are aggressively addressing our entry- into-service issues and are focused on minimizing the operational impact on our customers are we ramp production. “

In order to discover how broadband communications, for example, can result in high data rates for mobile final users, the Heinrich Hertz’s mission was created aiming to examine and test communications technologies in space at a technical and scientific level. The satellite was scheduled to launch in 2016 with an investment of 310.5 million euro and an 11 million contract to OHB in 2011.
DLR and OHB said in June that they now expect to launch it in 2021. The satellite will be in a 15-year mission, at an altitude of approximately 36,000 km and that will be possible due to a variety of flexible technologies, such as small on-board computers. Heinrich Hertz is named after the German physicist who first relayed electromagnetic waves in free space from a transmitter to a receiver in 1886.
A multi-feed array antenna measuring a height and width of 90mm is the new project Sensor Lewicki is working on. It will play an important role in the Heinrich Hertz communication satellite because it will ensure communication between the satellite and its operating station on our planet.
First Sensor Lewicki managing director Maximilian Sailer said:
“In addition to our existing qualification as an assembly and test Centre, our involvement in the BMWi-supported GeReLeo-MFA project for the construction of the multi-feed array antenna on the Heinrich Hertz satellite also gives us access to a new field of application in high-frequency technology qualifying for space flight.”
The last mission ended 16 years ago, therefore Heinrich Hertz will be the first German communication satellite to re-enter service since then.
International aircraft manufacturer Airbus has presented a newer more efficient model of the A380 model that has already been released years prior. There are many reasons for the upgrade alongside the satisfaction of the customer.
Specialist at Airbus have been consistently working on ways to reduce the effort of the plane with some minor changes.
They have been constructed new larger winglets that make the entire plane more fuel efficient by 4%. A380PLUS would also contribute to a beneficial reduction of per seat cost rather than the current A380 model at a 13%.
Alongside the improvements on the actual plan, Airbus is to better their maintance plan to keep up with their newer planes as they would require more attention. Previously showed at the Aircraft Interiors Expo (AIX) there has also been some new cabin features added to the PLUS model.
The A380PLUS would provide a new state of the art cabin space.
“Presented at Aircraft Interiors Expo (AIX), allows up to 80 additional aircraft seats* with no compromise on comfort: redesigned stairs, a combined crew-rest compartment, sidewall stowage removal, a new 9-abreast seat configuration in premium economy and 11-abreast in economy.”
Although the newer model would have an increased takeoff weight, the plane would be allowed to carry 80 more passengers.
The maintance checks have been spread out more often than usual by reducing a six-year check and system improvements were meant to lower maintenance cost and allow more aircrafts to be available at a time.
The A380 model has been an entire success and the PLUS is only the best to come. An approximate 170 million passengers have had the pleasure of being a passenger on the A380 model. The Average passenger amount on a A380 is an approximate 497 per ride on a flight.

Iglidur L350 came ahead in the process of compacting bearings with significantly lower wear rates especially at very high speeds. Here at ASAP Supply Chain upgrades of the wear and tear are not our favorite since we like customers to order parts often. Igus, The Cologne-based Leading Manufacturer of energy chain systems and polymer plain bearings, developed an innovative lubrication and maintenance-free material for very high speeds in constant operation. The company says iglidur L350 is suitable and affordable for any use in fans, blowers or electric motors. In revolving tests, the igus material proved its full potential against metallic solutions.
Friction and wear play an absolute important role where lastingly fast rotations exist. Iglidur L350 is designed for constant high speeds. The new high-performance plastic scored high compared to other solutions in moving applications. The other solution compared to the new high-performance plastic was metallic sintered bearings due to its higher flexibility against impacts and edge pressure.
In igus' in-house test laboratory, the bearing made of iglidur L350 showed a three-fold decrease in wear at speeds of 1.5 m/s. The amounts of friction and wear for iglidur L350 plain bearings remained constantly low. The new material can be used in result of the low thermal increase of the bearings even in demanding environment conditions with temperatures of up to +210 degC. With endless research, the price of iglidur L350 could be reduced by 50 percent compared to similar igus materials.
The iglidur L350 is appropriate for a wide range of applications from fans, blowers, electric motors, and simple household appliances. It is the alternative to oil-impregnated sintered bearings. Plain bearings made of iglidur L350 can be calculated and ordered online. The material is also available for the development and production of customer-specific geometries and bearing solutions.
At ASAP Supply Chain, we like to make great relationships with manufactures because they can give us the best price possible. That’s something we are proud of here, since we have many great connections with manufactures that we order from frequently. Order manufacture parts are the best because they are in the best condition possible and we like our customers to have reliable parts.
ABB is known by many to be The World Top Bearing Manufacture. In a $60 million-dollar investment, ABB opened a new plant in Senatobia, Mississippi to expand production in the US. The 85,000-square foot manufacturing facility employs over 100 and has plans to increase that number to 300 in coming years. The US plant will focus on electrical components and systems that were previously manufactured overseas. Units coming out of the plant will also include products from recently acquired Thomas & Betts.
ABB is a Swedish and Swiss corporation that operates mainly in the power and automation industry. The expansion in the US market has the goal of bringing reliable and green power solutions to US home and commercial use. Most ABB’s manufacturing, production, and research is currently overseas, but ABB wants to create a US presence to compete with American companies such as GE. By bringing production into the US, ABB can provide better customer service, cheaper prices, and simple logistics to US customers.
The three main ranges launched in the US expansion are: low-voltage power distribution, load protection for residential, and switching solutions. ABB aims to provide safe and consistent energy to critical locations such as data centers, hospitals, and stadiums. In the residential sector, the load protection line will give houses in the US miniature circuit breakers and surge protection devices to home circuits, protecting homeowners and their equipment. More expansion will undoubtedly follow for this Swiss corporation. We can expect to see ABB bring in more product lines to the US such as bearings and mechanical power transmission products. The US is a competitive market for ABB with companies such as GE and Siemens so news is only good for US consumers.

Boeing rolled out the first 787-10 Dreamliner at its South Carolina aviation plant. Thousands celebrated as President Donald Trump and Governor Henry McMaster announced the airplane’s debut. The 787-10 will be the longest model in the Dreamliner family at 224 feet, an eighteen-foot increase from the 787-9. Passenger capacity was increased an additional thirty seats and the cargo area was expanded, yet the plane is calculated to have a 95% commonality score to the 787-9. Boeing achieved its goal of lengthening the plane without any major changes as a resource saving strategy, narrowing its scope for Dreamliner spare parts and training requirements.
The launch of the 787-10 was, to no surprise, extremely successful. As of February, Boeing has received 149 orders of the Aircraft, with launch customer Singapore Airlines scheduled to receive 30 in 2018. They have also indicated an interest in purchasing twenty 777-9 planes. Speculation has Singapore Airlines aiming to replace their comparable Airbus 380 models with a Boeing fleet. The new Boeing planes are more fuel efficient, less costly to operate, and haul more cargo than the Airbus A380. With production currently at twelve units per month, the 787-10 is looking to have a busy production line in coming years.
The Dreamliner family has been flying commercial flights since 2011. The twin-engine, dual aisle midsize aircraft line holds from 242 to 310 in its three variants: -8, -9, and now -10. The plane is powered by two Rolls-Royce Trent 100 engines producing up to 78,000 lbs. of thrust. Boeing has spent over $30 billion developing the 787 program. The program however, is not yet profitable. Boeing does not expect to break even until they have sold 1100 aircraft.
